    Decision Maker: Cabinet

    Decision status: Deleted

    Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

    Purpose:

To outline the required repairs and associated costs to the Octagon building in St Ives.

    Decision:

The Cabinet approves the capital allocation of £50,000 to repair and preserve the Octagon building in St Ives.

    Reasons for the decision:

The building’s condition is such that repairs are required to ensure that the structure is made safe, is able to be secured and to improve the use of the internal space

    Alternative options considered:

As listed in paragraph 3 of the Officer’s report:

To do nothing and accept the continual decline in the condition of the building and fund a more extensive repair in the future; or

To secure the funding for the necessary repairs and carry out the essential works to preserve the building.

    Resource Implications:

The cost of the repairs noted within the Officer’s report are estimated at £40,629.  However, the estimate does not include a contingent for others works that may be necessary and therefore a budget of £50,000 is considered appropriate.
