    To receive a report from the Overview and Scrutiny Panel (Performance & Growth) detailing the outcome arising from a task and  finish study on the general theme of Huntingdonshire’s market towns.

    The Panel is invited to comment on the report of the Overview and Scrutiny Market Towns Task and Finish Group and approve its submission to the Cabinet.

    Minutes:

    By means of a report by the Democratic Services Officer (a copy of which was appended in the Minute Book) the Market Towns Task & Finish study  was presented to the Panel.

     

    Councillor Roberts highlighted points 5.4, and 5.7 to 5.10 from the report as the real standout points of the study and thanked both the Ramsey Neighbourhood Trust and the Officers involved for their help and support throughout the study.

     

    Following a query from Councillor Wakeford regarding recommendation g, the Panel heard that this related to a Department Store from Cambridge advertising in the windows of an empty unit in St Neots, encouraging residents to shop in Cambridge.

     

    Following a question by Councillor Morris, the Panel head that the study hadn’t looked at the pedestrianised town centre of Huntingdon and cycle access to the town.

     

    Having widely praised and expressed support for the report, the Panel thereupon

     

    RESOLVED

     

    that the Cabinet be recommended to endorse the recommendations contained within the Report.
