Why we are asking the council to do this:
Huntingdonshire District Council has, in 2026, been flying the
progress pride flag at its headquarters during Pride month.
However, as Reform councillors have pointed out, this flag is not
included in the deemed consent regulations. This means that the
Council does not have planning permission to fly the Progress Pride
flag, and it has duly been removed. This petition asks the Council
to correct this oversight, and to take advantage of the opportunity
to upgrade its flag policy to allow it to fly the most up-to-date
and inclusive version of the Pride flag, the intersex-inclusive
version designed in 2021 by Valentino Vecchietti
Flying the intersex-inclusive Progress Pride flag will send a
powerful message to all LGBTQIA+ people that they are welcome and
belong in Huntingdonshire, at a time when they are coming under
increasing attack for living as their authentic selves.
