I was elected to Huntingdonshire District
Council in June 2004 to represent the villages of Great
Staughton, Stonely, Kimbolton, Tilbrook and Covington. In
2009 I was appointed to the Council's Cabinet where I hold the
portfolio for resources.
I am 35 and live in Catworth with my
wife Gemma and our two young children. Since leaving school I
have been involved in the insurance business, and I am currently an
underwriter for a Lloyd’s syndicate based in the City of
London, specialising in protecting other insurance companies
against catastrophic losses.
I became involved in politics in 2003,
partly out of interest, but mostly because I am a great believer in
the fact that if you think something should be improved,
don’t just moan about it – get involved! I stood for
the new seat of Kimbolton & Staughton in 2004 and in the course
of campaigning I knocked on more than 85% of the doors in the
Ward.
I have made a priority of attending
Parish Council meetings, representing residents fully on the
District Council and keep them informed of what is
happening in the Ward via regular leafleting. I am particularly
pleased to have successfully lobbied for the construction of the
cycleway between Hail Weston and St Neots in 2005. Built with
supposedly ‘spare’ money, it shows something can be
achieved if you keep pushing for it.
I intend to keep representing the people
of my ward in such a manner – please do feel free
to contact me regarding any issues of concern.
