I have been a Town and District
Councillor since 2012. Before that I was working as senior
civil servant in Westminster, for three different Governments.
My background is in education and I taught in schools in
Buckinghamshire before becoming a special educational needs
specialist. On moving back to Cambridgeshire, I worked from
Cambridgeshire County Council recruiting teachers: I
travelled across the county telling people what a great place it
was to live and work here, and it is. I then worked in London
for the Teacher Training Agency running a wide range of national
programmes before moving to Department of Education. I led a
wide range of policy and programmes before leading on industrial
relations for 2 Secretaries of State. On leaving to spend
more time with my boys I found myself looking to find a way of
using my skills and knowledge to make a difference to where I live:
I became a Councillor.
